One year ago today, we thought we had lost everything.
One year ago today, the Sayre fire brought destruction and sadness to Oakridge. Many of our friends' homes were burned to the ground. They lost everything.
Today, Oakridge is slowly rebuilding. The club house has framing and 80 of 500 homes burned in the fire have been replaced.
Tonight, the winds are strong like they were that night, but this time, there is no sign of fire.
We will never forget that night, the terror, the worry, the helplessness.
We will never forget.
