There's something in the air

And no, it isn't something smelly!

For the past month, I've been itching to start decorating for Christmas. Normally, I can wait until Thanksgiving, but this year, there is something different in the air. Something fueling my need for Christmas to hurry on its way.

Maybe it is because we are back in our home. Maybe it is because Daddy is home with us, or maybe it is because Gracie and Lukie are already showing signs of loving Christmas. They know who Santa Claus is. They sing Jingle Bells (they are learning it at school). They rock out in the backseat of my car listening to KOST and their full playlist of Christmas songs (Yes, they already started with 24 hours of Christmas songs!). They love the decorations in the stores and if we don't walk past the prelit Christmas trees, Gracie will make sure to remind me.

I don't know what this feeling is, but I like it. I like feeling optimistic and excited and anticipatory. I haven't felt this way in a long time. I can't wait to see Gracie and Lukie's faces when Daddy and I finish putting up the lights. They are going to love the Christmas tree!

Yes, there is definitely something in the air...hope.

  1. There is a reason they call this "the most wonderful time of the year". I've noticed myself that I am more excited about Christmas this year, and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that our little twins are now of an age that they can comprehend the concept, at least a little bit.
My boys also squeal over Santa Claus and snowmen, they love the lights and the music.
I am not allowed to put up Christmas things, listen to Christmas music, or watch Christmas movies until after Thanksgiving (Kamaki is a grinch), but I am definitely counting down the days this year!

  2. I am right there with you! I am thinking it is time to watch It's A Wonderful Life in my pj's and wrap gifts!!! I wish the twins would get on board with Santa but I do not think it is going to go down this year - they are terrified!
